I use that as my backup and it works fine.

If you feel you want to get a seamless remote connection app, try AnyDesk. If that does not work, TightVNC is also very good. Same for Linux, most Linux distros have a remote desktop client that will work with RDP). If you have a Mac at home, MS has a client for OS X, so you are covered there as well. Once you have a VPN, you can use any of the following - Microsoft RDP (you need to have Windows PRO for invoking the server, not for the client. If you can create a VPN to your remote observatory than do that. After 3 months, they got back to me saying, I was using it commercially. I put in a ticket and they said 3 months to review my case. However, after having used it for about 2 years or so, I received a message indicating that I have been using it commercially. I was using it for free and while it worked, it was great.
